LAMB-2021-Somewhere in Iceland, a childless, married couple Ingvar & Maria raise sheep. One day an unusual hybrid lamb is born and they decide to raise it as their own. They name it Ada after their dead daughter. Soon the baby is walking on 2 legs, wearing a sweater and eating at the table. Everything seems to be OK but the ewe who birthed Ada hangs around bleating. Maria eventually kills mama and buries her body. Unbeknownst to her Ingvar's brother saw the whole thing before crashing in their barn. The brother Petur shows himself the next day. Needless to say, Petur is weirded out by the situation, especially when he sees Maria taking a bath with “their baby” but Ingvar says not to interfere. Petur wants to kill Ada but later comes to like her. 

After the three have a drunken party, Ingvar kind of passes out and Petur makes sexual advances toward Maria. She refuses but when he tries to blackmail her by saying he will tell Ada that Maria killed her mom, she locks him in a storage room and next day drives him to a bus. While Ingvar is out fixing the tractor with Ada he's shot and killed in a surprise ending. Maria finds her dying husband and falls into despair. 

This is a very strange and interesting movie from director/co-writer Vladimar Johannsson. The ending was unexpected. It was a huge hit it's in native Iceland.

GLERBROT aka BROKEN GLASS-1988-In a laundry room, a woman, her father and her drunken, abusive husband argue and insult each other. The couple also talk about putting their rebellious daughter Maria (Bjork; still a member of The Sugar Cubes), in an insane asylum. She shows up and calls them “shitty scum” then leaves. 

Later, two Teutonic religiously demented women come from the asylum, and forcibly take Maria away and put her in a cell. The place seems to be a hotbed of lesbianism trying to turn Maria queer. She convinces her parents to take her away but the Hitler sisters won't release her. Using a glass cutter sneaked to her by her boyfriend, Maria escapes, meets her boyfriend and they freeze to death. 

Parts look like a music video. It was directed by Kristin Johannesdottir for Icelandic TV.

Nonsense

DARK FLOORS-2008-A nurse, a high strung guy, a security guard, a nutty guy and man with a semi-comatose daughter are trapped in a hospital. All the doctors and patients have disappeared and they are menaced by a strange apparition (it looks like Uncle Creepy from the black and white Warren comics). It all seems to be related to the daughter. A scaly monster bites the high strung guy's leg. Later the monster (which looks like The Predator dressed to go clubbing) kills some of them. Two survivors become "displaced" in time and eventually corpses come back to life. It's all Stephen King/David Lynch/J-horror inspired nonsense very drawn out and un-entertaining.

This Finland/Iceland co-production (in English) was directed by Pete Riski and features English actor Ronald Pickup and the Finnish rock group Lordi  (I like their song "Hard Rock Hallelujah") as most of the demons.
