100th Post!

INCIDENT AT LOCH NESS-2004-This pseudo-documentary was probably influenced by THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT but it’s actually better! Producer Zak Penn (playing himself) is filming a documentary on the German director Werner Herzog (also playing himself). A long the way Penn decides to accompany the director as he shoots his latest project: an investigation of The Loch Ness Monster legend. Things go from bad to worst to wacky! It’s a lot of fun and very well done. But remember it’s all a set-up! Other real life movie technicians also play themselves.

EVILBREED: THE LEGEND OF SAMHAIN-2002-This movie is very bad. The director claims another director changed the ending but what about the rest of the film, huh?

A teacher takes some overage students (including porn star Jenna Jameson) on a trip to Ireland (yeah…right) and they learn about Samhain (pronounced “Sow-en”), sort of an Irish equivalent of Halloween. This really has nothing to do with the story, as the real culprits are the offspring of the infamous cannibal Sawney Bean. Ginger Lynn Allen shows up with a brogue and everyone (except “the shy nerd girl”) is killed. One guy (the weird red herring caretaker) has his intestines pulled out through his ass and then strangled with them. There’s some gore and a decapitation but way too much talk!

THE X FROM OUTER SPACE-1967-This very dumb and boring Japanese Sci-Fi movie has a group of astronauts venturing to another planet and bringing back a “space fungus” that mutates, after it infects an Earth animal that turns into a giant chicken rodent of some kind. It’s a very bad monster. Along the lines of the 1950’s THE FLYING CLAW! There’s an annoying love triangle thrown in involving an Asian Astronaut couple and an American female astro-scientist (Peggy Neal, also in BATTLE BENEATH THE SEA). Star Eiji Okada co-starred in THE FACE OF ANOTHER the year before. Director Kazui Nihonmatsu made only one other feature.

Thanks for reading!

Did you notice during the Samhain theme song during the opening credits that the singer actually pronounces the word "Sam-Hay-Ne?" Hilarious! This was completely awful. The director does claim that someone else butchered it but the stuff he obviously shot sucked too and no amount of gore or 'enhanced' porno actresses could save it.
