(imdb)SANTO VS. THE RIDERS OF TERROR-1970-A group of lepers escape from their sanatorium. They seem more like zombies. The townsfolk want to kill them but a sheriff and a doctor say they need compassion and lead a posse to bring them back alive. Meanwhile a trouble maker and his gang of thieves plot to commit crimes and blame it on the lepers. He makes a deal with the lepers but plans to kill them after they get what they want. The sheriff (Armando Silvestre from “The Wrestling Women” series by the same director) calls in "the defender of justice" El Santo! This is a actually more of a western type movie than anything else with the silver masked one smashing the bad guys, helping the lepers and finding a cure for them.
The print is nice and the dubbing is ridiculous but funny! Director Rene Cordona (NIGHT OF THE BLOODY APE) made several more adventures with the sainted one. The screenwriter was also a pro-wrestler (luchador in Mexico).
