Future Academy Award winner Peter Jackson co-wrote and directed as well as playing the role of Derek.

(imdb)THE ALIEN FACTOR-1978-3 aliens escape from "their zoo" when a spaceship crashes on Earth. They terrorize a small town in Maryland. The mayor worries this might spoil his construction project. A Ufologist invents some weapons to destroy the monsters. The acting is laughable.
The script and direction by Don Dohler (1946-2006), who went on to make several more low budget horror movies in Maryland, is pretty amateurish. 23 years later, he made ALIEN FACTOR-2: THE ALIEN RAMPAGE.

(imdb)LORDS OF THE DEEP-1989-Low budget "Alien underwater" trash co-produced by Roger Corman (who makes a cameo). An undersea exploration team is terrorized by an extraterrestrial life form. Kind of nutty Commander Dobler (Bradford Dillman) wants to destroy the creature they pick up but biologist Claire (Priscilla Barnes) has other ideas and seems to be getting communications from the aliens. This is the only feature film (so far at least) directed by Mary Ann Fisher who previously produced ANDRIOD (1982) for Corman.

When his father (Timothy Bottoms) goes to investigate he comes back acting very strange with a bruise on the back of his neck. Later his mom (Laraine Newman) and everyone else in town have become weird, possessed zombies including David's crabby teacher Mrs. McKeltch (Louise Fletcher) and the police. After he sees the teacher eat a frog, David convinces the school nurse Linda (Karen Black; Carson's real-life mom) that something is going on. Grotesque slimy aliens are planning to conquer Earth. The duo run around town being chased by the police and McKeltch in a yellow school bus. When it seems the whole town have been turned into slaves by the aliens, David and Linda convince Gen. Wilson (James Karen) of the truth and he brings in the army. One scientist (Bud Cort) tries to talk to the invaders and is killed. Eventually the invasion is crushed but….
This so-so remake of the notorious 1957 original succeeds more than it fails though pretty unnecessary as most remakes are. Original little kid star Jimmy Hunt appears as a policeman. Dan O'Bannon is one of the the credited screenwriters. Director Tobe Hooper made this the same year as the disappointing TEAXS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2.

(imdb)FUTURE WAR-1997-Some aliens, cyborgs and dinosaurs invade Earth. A nun (Travis Brooks Stewart) and an alien tracker (Daniel Bern-hardt) try to stop them. The dinosaurs are terrible plastic models but they act better than most of the cast. The tracker, a Jean-Claude Van Damme clone battles the head cyborg (Robert D'Zar) in the finale. Forrest J. Ackerman has a bit role.
The director Anthony Doublin did visual effects for some big budgeted Hollywood movies (HISTORY OF THE WORLD Part 1; 1941) but went on to a shot on video atrocity SLAUGHTERED.
