Curses!

DARK FIELDS-2009-A town called Perseverance has been under a curse from several generations. It started when the farming community dug up an old hat. Now every generation has to sacrifice several of their children based on a lottery they devised. An Indian shaman and a tall bald guy with fangs also figure into it. It tells three stories at the same time but jumps around and tries to be arty (and causes much viewer confusion). The late David Carradine is seen in the 18th century segments and Dee Wallace is in the 1950's plot. Richard Lynch (who died in 2012) is featured in the modern day story as a mean crazy father who wants his cursed daughter (Sasha Higgins) to drown her own brother. Later it's just the brother and sister running around in the dark looking for a cure and useless scenes of gore and torture (some of it against children). It's kind of like Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" except it's not good.

Too bad the director (who probably needs mental help) Douglas Schulze (THE HELLMASTER) decided to the three way story line and waste the triple threat of Carradine, Stone and Lynch which is the only acting highlights. The rest of the cast is terrible.

ROBOCROCK (sorry I couldn't resist!)

ROBOCROC-2013-The warden (Corey Nemec) of a zoo/animal preserve has to contend with an Australian saltwater crocodile gone wild after a space rocket crashes in it's habitat and turns it into a killer due to some nano-bots. Besides dealing with that he has to put up with a know it all, stuck up insane government scientist (Dee Wallace). Eventually, it gets loose and the usual bloody attacks on unsuspecting locals and tourists take place. A drunken fisherman is the first to go. Then a dirt biker. To make matters worse (at least for the viewer) there's a side story involving two nerds (one of them is the warden's son) being bullied at a water park. Naturally the nano-croc invades the place. A stupid army colonel (Steven Hartley) orders a lock down of the park and the nerds and two girls are trapped inside. The croc brings down a helicopter (copied from JAWS 2). The story gets even worse when a guy named Nigel (Keith Duffy) shows up to help capture the monster. The climax goes on forever with Nigel attacking the croc with a knife (bad move), the kids escape by water slide and a hunt in the sewer.

I couldn't find any other credits for director Arthur Sinclair. It seems to be his only film but I'm sure he'll be back for ROBOCROC 2.

Exit Action

EXIT HUMANITY-2011-This stupid movie (from writer/director John Geddes) starts off during the Civil War where hillbilly Edward Young (Mark Gibson) learns about zombies and how to kill them. After his wife and child are infected, he cries a lot and has weird dreams and flash-backs. Some scenes are animated. Later he helps rescue Emma (Jordan Hayes)  the sister of a guy named Isaac (Adam Seybold) but they meet up with some asshole "rebels" experi-menting with the living dead. Dee Wallace plays a medicine woman who helps the trio and it's discover the sister may have immunity to the zombie plague. When the bad guys kidnap the sister somehow Young leads all the zombies to their hideout for an attack.

This drawn out talky WALKING DEAD inspired horror story is based on a novel and wastes Bill Moseley and Stephan McHattie in minor roles. Somehow they got Brian Cox to narrate it.
