Thailand

(imdb)

CANNIBAL MERCENARY-2-1989-Leu (director Bin Banleurit) is once again coerced into leading a group of mercenaries against a drug lord named Bad Dog. He doesn't have a good record as everyone from his last mission died. Along the way, they pick up some strays including a woman with a baby. There's a lot of talking and one guy has a tongue session with a monkey. Everybody dies in the big shootout finale. What a bummer.

Eden?

(tmdb)

ATOMIC EDEN-2015-An annoying mercenary Stoker (Fred Williamson) assembles a group from his past to go to Chernobyl to find "the ultimate weapon" left behind by The Nazis. Meanwhile a mysterious army of people in radiation suits are outside attacking. Almost everyone gets killed. It's very violent and the dialogue is pretty bad. To top it all off Lorenzo Lamas shows up near the end as a villainous scenery chewer.

Many questions are left unanswered and the end sets up a sequel though one was never made. German action star (and the film's co-producer) Mike Moller has several fights and there's a female samurai (Hazuki Kato). Director Nico Sentner plays a sniper.

X-Prequel

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE-This is a kind of useless prequel to the first X-Men movie. It shows Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) as a child experiment and how he and his brother (Liev Schreiber) fought in many wars throughout history. In the modern age, a military colonel named Stryker (Danny Huston) forms a mercenary team with them a few other mutants. Eventually, Logan has enough and leaves. Later, bro Victor starts killing his ex-team mates and Stryker wants Logan to stop him. The weird climatic fight seems like a scene from a video game and Kevin Durand as The Blob was a bad idea. Patrick Stewart even shows up at the end. Also with Lynn Collins, Dominic Monaghan.

Director Gavin Hood (from South Africa) also made TSOTSI.

They Definately Live Up To Their Name!

THE EXPENDABLES-2010-Director and star Sylvester Stallone is Barney Ross who leads a mercenary group which includes Jet Li, Jason Stratham, Randy Couture and Terry Crews. Dolph Lundgren is also part of the team but gets kicked out. Ross wants Tool (Mickey Rourke) to take his place.

Despite the odd ball cast promotion most of the film is Stallone and Stratham trying to save the daughter (Giselle Itie’) of a dictator (David Zayas) who’s teamed with an ex-CIA agent (Eric Roberts, the only real actor in the group and he wasn't even featured in the ads!) who’s bodyguard is played by pro wrestler Steve Austin. Li gets to do some martial arts toward the end and the climax is an all out violent gun and hand to hand battle. The best fight occurs during this sequence. But Stallone isn’t a great director and there’s too much CGI effects. This was a real hyped up movie that fails to deliver anything that hasn’t been done already in countless direct to video movies!

As of this writing a sequel is planned to include Jean Claude Van Damme...
